Many of the redevelopment's energy-efficient heating, cooling and maintenance resources will be housed here, as will multi-storey car and bicycle parking to conserve green space. Our three new buildings will be designed with environmentally responsible and sustainable features to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification, the first hospital buildings in Ontario to do so. The current phase alone will result in 33 per cent energy cost savings and reduced greenhouse emissions equivalent to 220 fewer cars on the road.
This state-of-the-art building will also feature client assessment spaces and will incorporate areas for music and art therapy, as well as intervention support and video conferencing facilities for outreach to clients in rural areas.
